Adhesive for acrylic windows on fiberglass boat (Gelcoat substrate)?

ACRYLITE® cast (GP) sheet is recommended for windows in a marine (boat) application. Perimeter framing the acrylic window is recommended for installation. Then the framing can be adhered to the fiberglass. It is important that the installation system does not restrict the thermal expansion/contraction of the sheet. Sealants must be chemically compatible with acrylic and provide the necessary extensibility.

Some possible silicone sealants include:

  • Dow 795
  • GE Silpruf
  • Tremco Spectrem 1
