What is solvent bonding?

Solvent bonding is accomplished by applying solvent to the bonding area between the two mating surfaces. The solvent dissolves the bonding area, resulting in molecular entanglement between the mating surfaces. As the solvent dissipates, the entanglement is effectively frozen in place. Solvent bonding can result in bond strengths equal to the parent material.
