Precision Films for Next-Generation Microfluidic Devices
Engineered ACRYLITE® and EUROPLEX® films deliver the optical performance and reliability that lab-on-a-chip technologies demand.
Materials That Enable Innovation in Microfluidics
See how our films compare to other commonly used materials in microfluidic device manufacturing.
Lab-on-a-Chip (LOC) and other microfluidic systems are transforming diagnostics, life sciences, and chemical analysis. The success of these compact analytical devices depends on the quality of their substrate and cover films.
Our ACRYLITE® and EUROPLEX® films are designed for optical precision, chemical resistance, and processing versatility, enabling consistent performance from prototype through production.
Applications include:
- Point-of-care diagnostic devices
- DNA and protein analysis chips
- Drug screening systems
- Environmental and food testing platforms
- Cell culture and lab automation devices
Our Film Solutions
ACRYLITE® Films (PMMA-based) are ideal for rapid prototyping and disposable microfluidic devices.
ACRYLITE® Films offer outstanding optical clarity with a light transmittance of approximately 92%, making them ideal for optical detection, microscopy, and fluorescence assays. Its versatility in fabrication—whether through micro-milling, laser ablation, hot embossing, or injection molding—enables high-resolution microchannel design and efficient prototyping. In addition, it is non-toxic, biocompatible, and widely trusted in biomedical applications. Combining performance and practicality, PMMA remains a cost-effective solution that is readily available in sheets and rolls.

EUROPLEX® Cyclic Olefin Copolymer (COC) films are designed for high-precision, chemically demanding microfluidic systems.
EUROPLEX® COC film exhibits exceptional optical, chemical, and mechanical properties, making it an advanced material for microfluidic and lab-on-a-chip applications. COC’s low autofluorescence and biocompatibility make it well-suited for sensitive optical detection and cell-based applications. Like PMMA, it offers high transparency but often surpasses it in UV transmission – making it ideal for UV imaging. Its strong chemical resistance to acids, bases, and organic solvents allows for compatibility with a wide range of reagents and assays. In addition, COC’s extremely low water absorption and hydrophobic nature help prevent swelling and maintain precise microfluidic dimensions. With a high glass transition temperature of up to 142°C, COC delivers superior thermal stability, supporting sterilization and other heat-dependent processes without deformation.
