What is the difference between UV absorbent and UV filtering?

We add some UV additives to our regular sheet to help improve the materials weatherability – this is what is being classified as UV absorbent. Different UV additives are being used in ACRYLITE® Gallery UV Filtering (OP3) acrylic sheet; these additives cause the sheet to filter out most of the UV light (200-400 nm) – these are the UV filtering sheets. Some reds, ambers, and yellows naturally filter out the UV and also some of the visible light – this is why 2C04 is UV filtering.
