ACRYLITE® for Aviation Stretch
ACRYLITE® Stretched acrylic is qualified to MIL-PRF-8184 (QPL listed) and produced using ACRYLITE® 249 material, used in high-performance aircraft canopies and advanced transparency systems. The stretching process increases resistance to crazing and solvent attack and supports improved mechanical performance in demanding aerospace applications.
Properties
ACRYLITE® Stretched acrylic is used in advanced aircraft transparencies, including fighter jet canopies, helicopter glazing, and large-format canopy systems where structural performance and optical clarity are required.
✔ Produced using ACRYLITE® 249 (MIL-PRF-8184 Type I, Class 2, QPL listed)
✔ UV transmittance <1% (290–330 nm)
✔ Stretched acrylic
Performance Characteristics
- Stretching improves resistance to crack propagation under cyclic loading conditions
- Maintains optical clarity across large and complex transparency geometries
- Excellent thickness tolerances supported by precision grinding and polishing of the material
- Supports structural performance in high-stress and pressurized environments
- Enables consistent material behavior during forming and fabrication
- Benefits from cross-linked acrylic chemistry for higher resistance to chemical and environmental exposure
