National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) approval

The National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) approves equipment for use in food processing and potable water applications. As part of this process, they assure that particular polymers and/or plastics used in such equipment are suitable for such applications. There are two ways in which approval can be obtained. One is general approval through a list of approved grades of polymers. This involves a routine verification program at various polymer/plastics manufacturing facilities. The other is that NSF will approve polymers/plastics that are not on this list on a case by case basis.

Roehm America LLC has chosen not to put our products on the general approval list. The expense associated with routine listing for such a vast array of product types and grades does not justify the economics of maintaining our products on this list. However, the NSF will use information we have provided to them in the past regarding various products for approval on a case by case basis. They will continue to do so for any products which are suitable for applications which involve food contact use.

Typically, the NSF will require submission of a form detailing the materials used in the final product, and they evaluate the approval of the final product based on the materials used. The NSF can provide you with the form. You will be required to fill out a portion of that form and then forward it to us. We will then fill out the remainder and send it directly to the NSF.
