Thickness tolerance of ACRYLITE® extruded acrylic sheet

Maintaining a tight thickness tolerance is crucial for several reasons:

  1. Visual Clarity and Aesthetic Appeal: For transparent materials, variations in thickness can cause visible distortions and inconsistencies, reducing the aesthetic quality of displays and signage. Consistent thickness ensures a clear, appealing appearance.

  2. Uniform Light Transmission & Consistent Color: Variations in thickness affect how light is emitted through the material. For example, an LED sign with inconsistent thickness can appear cheap or “dirty” due to irregular light diffusion. Consistency in thickness guarantees uniform light transmission, enhancing the overall visual quality.

  3. Ease of Use and Assembly: Uniform sheet thickness facilitates easier handling and assembly by providing predictable outcomes. Variations can lead to irregular joints and assemblies, causing bubbles, misalignments, and gaps in cemented joints. These issues not only affect the fit and finish of designs but also create weak points, compromising the material's structural integrity. Thinner sections may be weaker and may not fit well into U-channels, resulting in sloppy framing assemblies and potential structural failures.
