ACRYLITE® LED light guiding edge lit sheet

  • Follow these basic steps to create a professional-quality lightbox for signs, displays, or branding:

    1. Choosing the correct grade of ACRYLITE® LED light guiding edge-lit acrylic sheet as the core panel.

    • Thickness is based on the desired brightness—thicker edges allow more light input.
    • Size the sheet appropriately (up to 48") based on your display needs.

    2. Install the Light Source: Use LED strips or modules as your light source. Position LEDs as close as possible (within 0.040” – 0.118” / 1mm – 3mm) to the sheet’s edge for optimal light entry. Make sure the edges of the ACRYLITE® LED edge-lit acrylic sheet are polished to smooth the entry surfaces for maximum efficiency.

    3. Maximize Light Input: Add a reflector behind the light source to direct more light to the edge. Cover non-lit edges with reflective tape to prevent light loss and boost brightness.

    4. Frame or Housing: Use a rigid frame or box to hold the acrylic panel and lighting in place. Include ventilation or heat management if using high-power LEDs.

    5. Add the Motif Carrier: Use a light-diffusing material like printable film or paper to display your message or graphic. Position the carrier on the lit surface of the acrylic.

    6. Protect the Display: Add a protective glazing layer—preferably ACRYLITE® Optical mar-resistant acrylic sheet—to guard the graphic from damage, dust, and wear.

    7. Single or Double-Sided Illumination:

    • For single-sided displays, use a highly reflective backing on the non-lit side.
    • For double-sided displays, ensure both surfaces are evenly illuminated and protected.
