ACRYLITE® LED light guiding edge lit rod

  • Illuminated by LED lights at one or both ends, ACRYLITE® LED light guiding edge lit rod disperses light evenly throughout, whereas conventional acrylic rod glow only at one end. Additionally, ACRYLITE® LED light guiding edge lit rod can be easily formed into shapes and letters without compromising functionality.

    For thermoforming, rods can be held vertically in an oven to the same temperatures as extruded sheet (290-320F) until soft, and then set into a fixture to hold the shape. To keep part of the rod straight, wrap it in a heat-resistant cloth such as fiberglass during heating.

  • These acrylic rods can be machined using the same methods as standard extruded acrylic rod.  Diamond milling or flame polishing the rough end will reduce loss of light upon entry by as much as 6% compared to a sawed edge.

    It is possible to matte the surface of the rod through sandblasting or matte lacquer. However, this can lead to irregular lighting and decrease the luminance as the rough surface disperses the light.
