ACRYLITE® Satinice Installed at Phoenix Children’s Hospital

A welcoming environment for young patients

Creative Machine’s in Tucson, Arizona knows how to come up with innovative ideas using acrylic. Joe O’ Connell – (President), decided to use ACRYLITE® Satinice velvet texture for an installation in Phoenix Children’s Hospital because of its range of versatile color. “ACRYLITE® Satinice has such a nice color palette and texture, “Joe explained, “It is unique in that it both reflects and transmits light beautifully”.

Replacing the clinical atmosphere

Much of Creative Machine’s process involved holding the samples up to the light and superimpose them on top of each other to see what would form. The project itself took a few weeks to build. Creative Machine’s did a similar piece called "Bloom" for a hospital in Chicago a few years ago that was kinetic. Phoenix Children’s Hospital liked that piece but also had a theme of pinwheels and mechanical toys. Creative Machine’s did a variety of circular shapes - flowers, toys, and even propellers.
