Adding Dimension & Light To Museum Of Jewish Heritage’s New Exhibit

A Visual Spectacle at the Museum of Jewish Heritage

Visitors to the interactive exhibit at the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in New York City are treated to a visual spectacle like no other, thanks to POLYVANTIS Sanford LLC's ACRYLITE® Satinice acrylic tubes. Combined with LEDs, these tubes distribute light and create dimension in the museum’s Keeping History Center, which opened to the public on November 6, 2009.

An Interactive Historical Experience

Designed by C&G Partners and Potion, the Keeping History Center presents Jewish-American history through individual stories and voices in a state-of-the-art interactive digital experience. The exhibit is situated at the end of a 2,200-square-foot hall with panoramic views of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty, symbolizing how immigrants were welcomed into the United States through Ellis Island.

Innovative Acrylic Design

The ACRYLITE Satinice tubes, recommended by and purchased from E&T Plastics of Long Island City, are suspended from the ceiling in various lengths to create an extraordinary visual experience. The longest tubes nearly reach the floor, functioning as luminaries that illuminate the hall and contain a message emblazoned in blue. Smaller tubes glow with transmitted light, adding a unique visual dynamic.

Superior Light Performance

“The superior, even light transmission and optics of our acrylic tubes allow for the aesthetically pleasing design the creators envisioned. We truly believe our tubes enhance the features of the new exhibit and make it a focal point of the museum,” stated Polyvantis Product Rep Debbie.

Energy Efficiency and Durability

ACRYLITE® Satinice tubes are extremely energy efficient, producing greater luminous intensity from the same power or delivering the same luminosity at lower energy cost compared to alternative materials. Their frosted surface hides fingerprints for enhanced service life and reduced maintenance—an important feature given their use in a public exhibit. Additionally, acrylic is lightweight and more resistant to breakage than glass, ensuring visitor safety.

A Centerpiece for Learning and Reflection

The ACRYLITE® Satinice tubes are an integral part of the Keeping History Center, which encourages visitors of all ages to share their thoughts and experiences using interactive tools. By combining history with innovative design, the Center helps people understand the past to shape a better future. As an unknown source wisely said:

“We have inherited the past; we can create the future.”
